Rebecca St. James “I Will Praise You” Review And…Giveaway!

I don’t actually sit and listen to music.

I work in the Worship Arts department of my church so part of my job entails listening to recorded versions of the worship music we’ll be singing in weekend services and making sure the power points match.  So technically, I’m listening to music a lot but it’s work.

I sort of listen to music while I’m on the treadmill at the gym but more often than not I let my mind wander.

In order to write a review of Rebecca St. James new CD, “I Will Praise You’ required something new of me.

Actually sitting and listening to music without doing anything else.

I took notes while I listened and I kept using one word over and over…nice.

RSJ has a very nice voice, the arrangements are pleasant to listen to, and mixed well.  Nothing is overwhelming.  And something that I really appreciated…no annoying repetitive choruses.  The lyrics and music are simple but fit together like a glove. It’s not noise.

It’s really quite a pleasant listening experience and I’ve already decided that this CD will be my driving home soundtrack when I leave work.

My favorite song on this CD is “In A Moment”.  It reminds me of the time when I worked for a mega-church in Chicago and the entire staff spent the day away from their desks and had a day of solitude on the church grounds.  This song transported me to the afternoon of sitting on the hillside by the lake. The sun was shining, slight breeze and I watched the Canadian geese take off and land in the water.  I’ve never had a song have that affect on me.

I have two things to offer you, dear reader.

First, there’s a “Listening Party” on Rebecca St. James website.  Click here, enter your email address and you can listen to the first three tracks from this new release.

Second, Propeller Marketing has so graciously offered one reader on this blog to win a CD for themselves.  All you need to do is subscribe to this blog and answer this question in the comments:  What song brings back a good memory for you?  A winner will be chosen on April 11th.

“Disclosure of Material Connection: I received one or more of the products of services mentioned above for free in the hope that I would mention it on my blog. Releases April 23, 2013

The Documentary Narrated by Rebecca St. James Captures the Lives of 25 Abandoned and Orphaned Children Living on the Streets in India

    MOTHER INDIA synopsis:

Winner of “Best Short Documentary” at the 2012 San Diego Christian Film Festival, ‘Mother India’ is a compelling documentary that chronicles the adventure of 25 courageous orphans living as a family along the railway in Tenali, India. “Mother India” brings to light the struggles faced daily by over 31 million orphans in India and the challenge of rescuing them from a life of begging and addiction.

‘Mother India,’ is the work of first-time filmmakers David Trotter and Shawn Scheinoha. “India is growing in both population and industry, but few people know that there are over 31 million orphans in this nation,” commented Trotter (Executive Producer, Director). “Each of these young lives is much more than a statistic. Every one of them has a name, a face and a story.” Scheinoha (Executive Producer) added, “We’re not out to just tell a tragic story. We’re focused on raising awareness and changing lives.”
